Electric Appliances Energy Saving Tips

The increasing cost of electricity has certainly inspired me to research ways to cut my electric bills. It has been previously said, “knowledge is power”, therefore it is my desire to be empowered by the wealth of information we are now privilege to have access to. I would like to share this information with you.
I have learned the importance of knowing some simple facts about our electric appliance. Although most of the energy saving facts I will share are very simplistic they yield great returns in cutting the cost of our electric bills. Have you heard of the dollar test? If not, take a dollar bill open your refrigerator door, then close it on the dollar bill, if you can easily pull the dollar bill  through the seal of the refrigerator it should be replace. You are loosing precious energy because your refrigerator is working harder to keep your food cool. It is recommended that we keep our refrigerators at a temperature of 40 degrees. We are also recommended to let all food cool before placing it into the refrigerator because the heat raises the temperature in the refrigerator which also caused it to work harder.
Another simple cost cutting fact is only wash full loads and be sure to use cold water when possible. It is also important that we do not overload the dryers and make sure the lint filters are changed before each load.  It is also recommended to completely fill dishwashers before running them. The final energy saving fact is energy star certified appliances can help reduce energy use and cut your electric bill. You can go to NES website to view additional energy saving tips and find out how much energy your appliances are using with an appliance calculator. This knowledge is financial POWER.

Take Control of Your Electric Heating Bills

It is important in today’s economy to cut cost in every aspect of lives. Most of us have to take a much longer look at our budget and how we spend our money. As a Customer Relations Advisor for Nashville Electric Service (NES) I have learned the importance of taking control of your electric bills, especially during the winter months. For most of us heating our homes is our biggest energy expense all year. The peak billing period for heating during the winter months are primarily January and February.
